Aeros' McBride ties club RBI record in win
Aeros 1B/OF Matt McBride tied a franchise record with eight RBI Friday night, hitting two home runs as Akron crushed host Binghamton 16-3 in the opener of a three-game weekend series at NYSEG Stadium in New York.
McBride became just the second Aeros player to ever drive in eight runs in a game, Scott Morgan, who accomplished the feat May 25th, 1999 against New Britain at Canal Park.
The offensive output also marked a career-high for the Indians sandwich pick (75th overall between the second and third rounds) in the 2006 draft out of Lehigh University, as his previous high was six RBI for Class-A Lake County on June 21st, 2007 against Delmarva.
As a team, the Aeros pounded out 18 hits for the second consecutive game.
In improving to 66-41, Akron maintains its six-game lead in the Eastern League Southern Division over the second-place Reading Phillies.
