Aeros sweep second-place SeaWolves
AKRON AEROS 13, ERIE SEAWOLVES 4
KEY STATS: With the win, the Aeros completed a four-game sweep of the SeaWolves - an event that marks quite a reversal of their fortunes against the pesky SeaWolves. Akron entered the home series with just three wins in the previous 15 meetings this season.
KEY MOMENTS: Erie starter Thad Weber lasted a mere 2/3 of an inning in spotting the host Aeros a six-run first inning...The Aeros added three more runs in the second inning to take a 9-0 lead and never looked back...Aeros outfielder Nick Weglarz and third baseman Jerad Head punctuated the 18-hit attack with home runs in the eighth inning.
STORM'S STARS: Aeros starting pitcher Josh Tomlin improved to 10-8 with the win, notching his 12th quality start of the season...Akron second baseman Jesus Merchan, Weglarz, catcher Carlos Santana and Head each collected three hits a piece and drove in nine of the teams 13 runs.
UP NEXT: The Aeros hit the road for a quick three-game road trip to Binghamton (New York Mets) that begins tonight at 7:05 p.m. Afterwards, Akron earns a much-needed off-day Monday before returning home for a six-game home stand that begins Tuesday at Canal Park...Schedule to pitch Friday for the Aeros tonight is left-hander Bobby Livingston (7-6, 4.89 ERA) and B-Mets right-hander Jake Ruckle (1-2, 7.50 ERA).
