CINCINNATI: Travis Buck planned to spend virtually the entire game today getting treatment on his tight hamstring.
""The good thing is that I'm walking around fine,'' he said this afternoon. ""I'll do what (head trainer) Lonnie (Soloff) tells me to do. I don't want to push it. I've obviously used up my allotment of DL time.''
Buck was referring to years when he missed large blocks of time because of injuries, but never because of a hamstring problem.
In Friday night's 8-2 Indians win, Buck was running out a single when he pulled up short at the bag.
""Fortunately, I think I caught it before it got a lot worse,'' he said. ""I was a couple of steps from first base, thinking about trying to stretch it into a double. Just before I got into another gear, it tightened up and I stopped.''
The Tribe will be one player short for the time being, because it is thought that Buck will be back on the field in a few days, rather than be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
""It's a mild strain,'' manager Manny Acta said. ""He's day to day.''
