Carrasco to drop appeal
BOSTON: Carlos Carrasco’s decision to appeal his six-game suspension for throwing at the head of Royals’ designated hitter Billy Butler was only a tactic to get him through his next start tonight against the Red Sox.
“”I think he’s leaning toward dropping the appeal after he starts,’’ manager Manny Acta said Tuesday. “”I think we would lean toward him dropping it, too. We can adjust the rotation because of the day off (Monday).’’
Cabrera confirmed that he planned to drop the appeal.
Maybe taking an extra day off between starts could help Carrasco at this stage of the season.
“”There are lots of guys who like to stay on that five-day routine,’’ Acta said. “”But I think anybody would be helped by being off for six days this late in the year.’’
Angels starter Jerad Weaver, who threw at the head of Alex Avila of the White Sox Sunday was given a six-game suspension Tuesday.
