Choo misses opener with sore elbow
GOODYEAR, Ariz.: There's a reason that Shin-Soo Choo isn't playing in the Indians' exhibition season opener: His left elbow is sore.
Choo revealed that he underwent an MRI scan and that the team already has a plan to ease him back into the lineup. He is scheduled to be the designated hitter Monday and Tuesday, take the day off Wednesday then play long toss from 150 feet on Thursday.
If he has no setbacks, Choo thinks he will be back in right field on Friday. The best news for him: the MRI showed no structural damage to the elbow, on which he had reconstruction surgery in 2007.
""After the MRI, there are no issues,'' Choo said.
