Friday minor league roundup
Triple-A Columbus (45-30) – Carlos Carrasco struck out eight in seven innings as the Clippers beat Gwinnett 7-5. He gave up eight hits and three runs. He walked two. Matt LaPorta and Michael Brantley each drove in two runs. Jared Goedert hit another home run, his seventh in 69 at bats with the Clippers, fifth in the last 10 games and 14th of the season (Akron and Columbus).
Double-A Akron (36-37) – The Aeros lost 5-3 to Binghamton.
High Class-A Kinston (38-35) – The Indians lost 9-1 to Lynchburg. Starter TJ House pitched 4.1 innings and allowed nine hits and four runs to take the loss. He struck out four. First baseman Chris Kersten and catcher Richard Martinez each had two hits.
Low Class-A Lake County (45-25) – Lake County beat West Michigan 2-1. Third baseman Jeremie Tice and center fielder Delvi Cid each had two hits. Right-hander Clayton Cook got the win, throwing five innings and striking out six. He allowed no runs and walked none. Preston Guilmet struck out the side to pick up his sixth save. He has 26 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.
Class-A Short season Mahoning Valley (3-4) – The Scrappers beat Batavia 12-4. First baseman Jonathan Burnett hit two home runs and drove in four. Centerfielder Jordan Casas had three hits and two doubles.
