Game postponed, rotation juggled
CLEVELAND: Cold and wet weather forced cancellation of tonight's Indians-White Sox game, and no makeup date was announced.
As Acta said, ""It's unfortunate we have this gruelling weather. the temperature is going to be in the 20s with snow. It won't be baseball, it will be survival.''
Acta used the rainout to juggle his rotation. Jeanmar Gomez was scheduled to make his 2012 debut tonight, but his first start has been pushed back to Saturday.
Justin Masterson will start today's series finale, and Derek Lowe will start Friday in the Royals' home opener at Kauffman Stadium.
Ubaldo JImenez, currently sitting out a five-game suspension, will start Sunday in Kansas City, and Josh Tomlin will miss a turn, spending a few days in the bulllpen, if needed, until his next start April 20.
Here are the numbers for Carlos Santana's new contract:
His 2012 salary of $501,000 will remain unchanged, but he will recieve a $1 million signing bonus. Next year he will make $550,000; in 2014 his salary will rise to $3.5 million, followed by $6 million in 2015 and $8.25 million in 2016.
The club can keep Santana in 2017 by exercising a $12 option or pay him $1.2 million to avoid picking up the option.
