Goedert promoted to Columbus
3B Jared Goedert saw his 21-game hitting streak snapped Wednesday - just one game shy of tying the Aeros franchise mark. But good news came Friday when he learned he had been promoted to Triple-A Columbus.
Goedert led the Aeros in batting average (.325), doubles (14), home runs (seven), RBI (32), total bases (16), on-base percentage (.382) and slugging percentage (.540). He also ranked third in the Eastern League in batting and eighth in slugging.
Taking Goedert's roster spot in Akron is UTY Adam Davis, who was promoted from Class-A Kinston. After spending the last two seasons with the K-Tribe, Davis will be making his Double-A debut with the Aeros this weekend during a three-game series in Harrisburg.
So far this year he's batting .227 with three home runs and eight RBI in 24 games. Although Davis has spent the majority of this year in the outfield, during his career he has played 180 games at second base, 80 games at third base and 53 at catcher.
He was selected by the Indians in the third-round (106th overall) in the 2006 draft out of the University of Florida.
