Before Wednesday’s game, the Indians placed DH Travis Hafner on the paternity list, where he can remain for up to three days.
In Hafner’s place, INF/OF Vinny Rottino was called up from Triple-A Columbus.
Rottino, whom the Indians picked up off waivers June 27, is hitting a combined .304 with eight home runs in the minors this season between Triple-A Columbus and Buffalo.
The promotion marks the 32-year-old journeyman’s third trip to the major leagues this season. His first two big league stints came with the New York Mets, where he batted .182 with two home runs and five RBI in 18 games.
