Hafner returns to lineup
CLEVELAND: As expected, designated hitter Travis Hafner was activated from the disabled list and inserted into the sixth spot in the lineup tonight.
Hafner has been on the DL since Aug. 6 with lower back inflammation.
“”The medical staff has recommended that Hafner play three times a week,’’ manager Manny Acta said. “”He’s not going to take at-bats away from guys that we really need to see.’’
Primarily that would be Russ Canzler, who is likely to play first base (and sometimes left field) when Hafner is in the lineup.
