Hafner's triple first in five years
CLEVELAND: It's not every day that Travis Hafner hits a triple. But he did this afternoon in the Indians' 8-6 win over the White Sox.
""I could beat 75-80 percent of therse guts if it came down to it,'' Hafner said, kidding about his foot speed.
The last time he tripled was May 29, 2007 at Fenway Park, a span of 1,711 at-bats.
Hafner got the Tribe on the scoreboard with a leadoff home run in the second inning, igniting a three-run rally. The Tribe put the game away in the third by scoring five more runs, all off Phillip Humber, who left before retiring the side. In two starts against Cleveland, Humber has allowed 11 runs in 8 1/3 innings.
“”Hafner’s not really a big donkey,’’ manager Manny Acta said. “”He runs pretty well for a big guy. It was fun to see him go. The whole dugout was screaming at him.’’
