Hafner sidelined, but not for long

CLEVELAND: Head trainer Lonnie Soloff this afternoon revealed that the results of an MRI showed a strained tendon in the bottom of Travis Hafner's right foot.

""Travis will wear a walking boot when he's away from the field until Monday,'' Soloff said. ""At that time, he will be re-examined to determine his availability to start a game.''

In other words, Hafner isn't expected to be out of action for long. And for the rest of the weekend, manager Manny Acta said that his designated hitter would be available to pinch hit.

""Beware, Pronk is ready to come off the the bench at any time,'' Acta said. ""All he has to do is take off his boot.''

In other medical news, Mitch Talbot, on the DL with a strained right elbow, threw a 30-pitch bullpen today and will throw another bullpen in Oakland on Tuesday.
