Head hits multiple homers, Aeros score many runs & roster moves
Stephen Head woke up the Aeros offense that has been asleep since the All-Star Break, using three homers to power the Aeros to a 9-6 win over host Connecticut Wednesday night.
Head, who entered the night's action with 10 home runs on the season, hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and solo shots in the fifth and seventh innings to become just the fifth Akron player to hit three in a game in franchise history.
Earlier in the season, Aeros catcher Wyatt Toregas accomplished the feat to become the fourth Aero to smack three longballs in a game.
With nine runs in the game, the Aeros snapped a season-high four-game losing streak and scored the most runs they have since the break.
ROSTER MOVES - C Armando Camacaro was sent back to Triple-A Buffalo Tuesday, but the injured Toregas (right elbow strain) was not activated from the disabled list. Instead, C Doug Pickens joined the team from Lake County to back up reserve Damaso Espino. Also, the Aeros received OF/UTY Jared Head from high Class-A Kinston to take the spot of OF and lead-off man Jose Constanza, who is being bothered again by a nagging shoulder injury.
