Herrmann recalled, Carrasco goes on DL
CLEVELAND: The Indians recalled right-hander Frank Herrmann from Columbus, giving them eight relievers for two days, before a pitcher is summoned to take Carlos Carrasco's start on Saturday against the Tigers.
Carrasco was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, with a sore right elbow. He will be eligible to be activated May 10.
Herrmann was on the Opening Day roster but was optioned to Triple-A April 13 to make room for Joe Smith on the roster. Smith was on the DL with a spring training injury.
At Columbus, Herrmann posted a 6.75 ERA in four relief appearances. In four innings, he allowed three runs, seven hits and two walks, striking out two. With the Tribe, Herrmann pitched in four games, giving up four earned runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
