Indians add journeyman Neal
The Cleveland Indians have signed right-handed relief pitcher Blaine Neal to a minor league deal. Neal will reporter to Triple A Columbus.
Neal, 31, spent last season playing for the Toledo MudHens, the Triple A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers. He was 1-0 with a 1.21 ERA in 38 games. He had 26 saves.
He has not been at the major league level since 2005 when he he split the season with Boston and Colorado. He has appeared in 113 major league games compiling a record of 5-4 with a 5.08 ERA. He has struck out 93 in 124 career innings. He was originally a 4th round pick of the Florida Marlins in the 1996 draft.
