Indians designate Dellucci, recall Perez
Here is the Associated Press story, followed by reaction from the blogsphere.
CLEVELAND: The Indians have recalled left-hander Rafael Perez from Triple-A Columbus and designated outfielder David Dellucci for assignment to make roster room.
The moves came on Friday before the Indians opened a four-game home series against the New York Yankees.
The 35-year-old Dellucci opened this season on the disabled list and has battled injuries since signing a three-year contract to join the Indians as a free agent in December 2006. He hit .238 (132-for-554) in 183 games for Cleveland.
Perez, one of team's most consistent relievers the past two seasons, struggled in 13 outings this April, going 0-1 with a 15.19 ERA.
At Columbus, he was 1-0 with two saves and did not allow a run in nine innings over seven outings, walking three and striking out nine.
Better late than never, right?
It is Over!!! The dream has arrived!!! Dave Dellucci is going.. going.. GONE!
