Here's how the Indians four minor league teams fared Sunday:
Triple-A Columbus (8-3) - The host Clippers won their fourth of their last five games, topping Toledo 6-2 at Huntington Park...OF JERAD HEAD hit two home runs on the afternoon, his two-run home run shot in the sixth inning giving Columbus a 3-2 lead that was never relinquished. Head hit his second homer of the game in the eighth inning, another two-run shot to give him four RBI...C LUKE CARLIN also added to the home run parade with a solo homer in the seventh inning, going 3-for-4 with two RBI...LHP DAVID HUFF held the Mud Hens to just one hit and struck out five in five solid innings...But it was RHP ZACH PUTNAM who picked up the win with two hitless innings of work.
Double-A Akron (5-6) - The Aeros were swept in a double header by host Reading at FirstEnergy Stadium by scored of 5-2 and 5-4. In the first game, LHP MATT PACKER took the loss in giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits - including two home runs - in five innings...Aeros INF MATT LAWSON hit a home run...In Game Two, RHP MATT LANGWELL dished up the game-winning run-scoring single to the Phillies MICHAEL SPIDALE in the eighth inning to take the loss...OF JOHN DRENNEN hit a three-run home...With the double header, LHP ERIC BERGER earned the spot start, allowing three runs on a home run in three innings to start the game.
High Class-A Kinston (2-7) - The K-Tribe was shutout 9-0 by host Winston-Salem at BB&T Ballpark...LHP GIOVANNI SOTO took the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits in just 3 2/3 innings...INF ADAM ABRAHAM went 2-for-3, garnering half of Kinston's four hits...RHP JOE MAHALIC also dished up five runs on five hits and two walks in 3 1/3 innings.
Low Class-A Lake County (6-5) - The Captains were edged 7-6 by host Bowling Green...RHP OWEN DEW took the loss in allowing three runs (including a home run) on four hits and two walks in three innings...INF TYLER CANNON led the game off with a solo home run to give the Captains an early lead...C ALEX LAVISKY also homered against the Hot Rods, launching a two-run shot in the fifth as part of a 2-for-4 efoort that included two RBI and two runs scored...DH ALEX MONSALVE also recorded two hits, a RBI and run scored.
