Here's how the Tribe's minor league teams fared Sunday:
Triple-A Columbus (19-5) - The Clippers won their 11th consecutive game with a 9-3 victory over host Charlotte, a game broke open by Columbus' six-run sixth inning...LHP DAVID HUFF (3-0, 3.19 ERA) earned the win by limiting the Knights to three runs on four hits over seven innings...SS JASON DONALD went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and three RBI...C LUKE CARLIN went went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI as five Clippers batters recorded multiple hits.
Double-A Akron (12-12) - C CHUN CHEN clubbed two home runs and drove in three runs as the Aeros won the rubber match of a three-game series against host Binghamton 10-1 at NYSEG Stadium. Chen's four home runs on the season have all come in his last four days...RHP AUSTIN ADAMS (2-2, 3.09 ERA) recorded his second win of season, limiting the B-mets to a run on three hits while striking out eight in seven strong innings...RF JOHN DRENNEN went 3-for-3 with two walks, two doubles and two RBI as five Aeros batters recorded multiple hits...The Aeros open a four-game series at Altoona Monday night. Although Akron has yet to announce a starter for the game, LHP ERIC BERGER was transferred to Triple-A Columbus Monday morning and RHP MARTY POPHAM was called up to Akron from High Class-A Kinston.
High Class-A Kinston (9-14) - The K-Tribe picked up the series win with a 3-1 victory at Lynchburg...LHP DREW POMERANZ limited the host to an unearned run on four hits while striking out six and walking two in 5 1/3 innings, but earned a no-decision...RHP TRAVIS TUREK (3-0, 2.65 ERA) picked up the win after taking over for Pomeranz in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and one out, promptly inducing an inning-ending double play...RHP PRESTON GUILMET worked a perfect ninth inning for his second save of the year and has yet to give up an earned run this season...RF ABNER ABREU went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored
and two RBI.
Low Class-A Lake County (13-11) - Captains RHP COLE COOK (1-2, 4.43 ERA) earned his first professional win in Lake County's 5-3 victory over Lansing. Cook limited the Lugnuts to two runs on six hits over five innings while striking out four batters...2B ARGENIS MARTINEZ went 2-for-3 with two RBI...CF CARLOS MONCRIEF added a home run.
