Indians' Matt LaPorta undergoes hip surgery
The Indians announced today first baseman/outfielder Matt LaPorta underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left hip Thursday in Nashville.
Dr. Thomas Byrd of the Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic center performed the procedure, a debridement of the hip joint.
Full recovery, including a rehabilitation program, is expected to take three to four months, which means that LaPorta should be ready to take part in all activities when the spring exhibition season begins in Arizona.
