  “”It’s been nagging him a little,’’ manager Terry Francona said. ‘”We’ve been playing the heck out of him. I wouldn’t be shocked if I he got tomorrow off.’’

Offense racking up negative milestones

   KANSAS CITY: The Tribe's 9-0 loss to the Royals in the first game of today's doublehader extended some negative achievements for the offense.

   The Indians have scored three or fewer runs in 14 of 21 games and one or fewer runs in five games. In addition, Cleveland has scored in only two of the past 28 innings.

Francona to Bourn: Don't rush it

   KANSAS CITY, Mo.: Michael Bourn isn't progressing as fast as he would like after sustaining a cut on his right index finger that required five stitches to close.

""I don't hink he's quite as comfortable as he wanted to be,'' manager Terry Francona said today. ""I grabbed him yesterday and told him that the DL is only an artificial timetable, and that he should come back when he is ready.''

Tribe calls up Gomes, Barnes; Marson goes on DL

   KANSAS CITY, Mo.: The Indians called up two more players and shipped one to the disabled list before today's day-night doubleheder against the Royals.

   Catcher Yan Gomes and lefty reliever Scott Barnes were summoned from Columbus, and backup catcher Lou Marson was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder.

Tribe-KC postponed until Sunday

   KANSAS CITY: For the fourth time this season – and second time in four days – an Indians game was rained out. Consequently. tonight’s game against the Royals will be made up as part of a day-night, separation admission doubleheader on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium.
   First game will start at 2:10 p.m. with the nightcap beginning at 7:10.

Carrasco day-to-day after being hit in arm; Cabrera back in lineup

  KANSAS CITY, Mo.: Carlos Carrasco’s elbow/forearm was struck by a batted ball during the fifth inning of his start for Columbus against Scranton Wilkes-Barre Thursday night.


   After being examined after the incident and again Friday morning, doctors determined that Carrasco has a deep bruise and is day-to-day.

Indians' Cabrera sits out with minor injury; Gomes odd man out; Bourn to visit Cleveland

Asdrubal Cabrera missed Sunday’s game in Houston after jamming his left wrist trying to break his fall down the dugout steps.

He missed todday’s game with a slight quad strain sustained Monday night, when he stole second in the eighth inning against the White Sox.

Myers has elbow sprain, will miss several starts

   CHICAGO: After undergoing medical testing in Cleveland, Brett Myers has been diagnosed with tendinitis in his right elbow and a mild sprain of the ucl.

   He has been advised not to do any throwing for two weeks,after which he will reexamined. If he has no symptoms at that time, he can begin a throwing program.

Kluber in rotation, Myers on DL

   HOUSTON: Brett Myers is out of the rotation because of an elbow/flexor tendon injury, and Corey Kluber is in.

   After announcing to the media folllowing his start Friday night that he had been pitching with a sore flexor tendon since spring training, manager Terry Francona said Myers would fly back to Cleveland today for tests.

   HOUSTON:  After telling the media following his start Friday night that he has been pitching with tendinitis in his flexor (forearm) tendon, Brett Myers will return to Cleveland on Sunday for tests.

   ""We were watching how this thing might work,'' manager Terry Francona said this afternoon. ""We thought he might be sore today, and he was sore. We're sending him back to Cleveland to compare how it (forearm) looked when we signed him.''

Myers: I've pitched with flexor tendinitis since spring training

   HOUSTON: Brett Myers gave up two more home runs -- making it 10 in 21 1/3 innings -- as the Indians lost 3-2 to the Astros tonight. 

   After the game, Myers said he has been pitching with flexor tendinitis in his right forearm, but that it has no affect on the way he is performing.

Indians lose 6-3 Thursday; Red Sox complete the sweep

The Indians dropped their fourth straight game and third straight against the Red Sox 6-2 on Thursday night. 

The Tribe stayed within one run until the seventh inning, when some sloppy defense played a part in a three-run inning for the Red Sox.

Bourn, Kipnis delayed in return to the field

   CLEVELAND: After announcing on Tuesday that Michael Bourn would be headed to the disabled list in a day or two, the Tribe's center fielder officially was added to the DL today, retroactive to Monday.

   Jason Kipnis, who has missed three games in a row, was expected to return tonight, but he will remain idle.

CLEVELAND:: The cut on Micheal Bourn's right index finger has turned out to be more than a nuisance injury.

Indians anager Terry Francona said this afternoon that Bourn, the starting center fielder, would go on the disabled list in a day or two, which means he wil be lost to the team until April 30 at the earlierst.

Bourn cuts index finger sliding into first

   CLEVELAND: Michael Bourn sustained a cut in his right index finger that needed five stitches to close after sliding into first base in the eighth inning.

   With two outs and the Tribe traling 3-1, Bourn slapped a ground ball to Adam Dunn at first. When reliever Matt Thornton ran over to cover the bat, he inadvertently stepped on Bourn's hand. Bourn was safe at first but had to leave the game.

Myers pitches well but Indians fall to White Sox 3-1

Brett Myers was much improved in his third outing of the season, giving up two earned runs and striking out four over six innings, but the Tribe bats struggled to do anything against Chicago starting pitcher Jake Peavy, losing 3-1. 

The Indians lone run came as early as it possibly could. Michael Bourn took the first pitch of the game from Peavy and drove it into the White Sox' bullpen in right field for a home run. Over Peavy's next 103 pitches, Tribe batters had only four hits and struck out 11 times.

Santana pulled from lineup after BP

   CLEVELAND:  Carlos Santana was originally in the lineup but was withdrawn after batting practicwe, when he reported that his sore thumb was still causing him pain.

   ""He had a problem with the other arm (elbow) in spring training,'' manager Terry Francona said. ""I don't know how he did it. I think the first time he might have slept on it wrong. Maybe this will be a one-day thing.''

Four starters enough for awhile; Cabrera gets eight games

  CLEVELAND:  For the next week, manager Terry Francona will need only four starters, thanks to Monday’s off day.
  “”We don’t need another starter until the 20th,’’ the manager said. “”Potentially, (Scott) Kazmir will start that day and if not, we’ll bring someone up.’’
Kazmir is on the disabled list with a strained rib cage, but he is expected to be ready to return to the active roster in a few days.
  The current rotation: Zach McAllister, Brett Myers, Justin Masterson and Ubaldo Jimenez.
   Corey Kluber, who was called up to start Wednesday night, never did get to pitch because the game was rained out. Friday, he was optioned back to Columbus.

  Not unexpectedly, Carlos Carrasco received an eight-game suspension for hitting Kevin Youkilis in the shoulder Tuesday night, following a home run by Robinson Cano.

Indians' Carlos Carrasco suspended 8 games for hitting Kevin Youkilis

Another dangerous pitch has Carlos Carrasco in trouble again.

The Cleveland Indians pitcher was suspended for eight games by Major League Baseball on Friday for “intentionally throwing” at New York’s Kevin Youkilis, the right-hander’s second penalty in two years for aiming at a hitter.

Indians make four roster moves

The Indians announced four rosters moves before the game today against the Chicago White Sox.

They recalled left-hander Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus and activated Jason Giambi from the disabled list. To make room for them, right-hander Corey Kluber was sent to Columbus and right-hander Matt Albers was placed on the paternity list.

Tribe rotation shuffled after second rainout

  CLEVELAND: For the second consecutive night, the Tribe and Yankees were rained out.
  No announcement has been made, but both games likely will be made up May 13 as a conventional doubleheader.
  Anyone holding tickets to either Wednesday or Thursday night’s games should hang onto the tickets and wait for further information.
   The Indians’ rotation will look like this the next several days: Justin Masterson will start Friday night against the White Sox, followed by Zach McAllister, Brett Myers and after Monday’s off day, Ubaldo Jimenez will open a series against the Red Sox Tuesday night.

Santana tests sore thumb

  CLEVELAND: Carlos Santana (sore left thumb) caught a bullpen today and swung a bat in the indoor cgaes.
  “”That’s a great sign,’’ manager Terry Francona said. “”I asked if he had a choice, when would he play? He said tomorrow. That’s not going to happen, but it means things are moving along for him.’’
  Francona said earlier that if Santana can at least come off the bvench and catdch, one of the two dqthers who were dfalled up – Yan Gomes or Omir Santos would be optioned back to Triple-A.
   Two catchers were were summoned from Columbus because backup catcher Lou Marson also is out with a strained neck after being involved in a collision at the plate.

Corey Kluber will make emergency start for Indians tonight

Corey Kluber will make an emergency start for the Indians, whose rotation got thrown out whack after Carlos Carrasco’s ejection for hitting Kevin Youkilis of the New York Yankees with a pitch.

Kluber will make his season debut on tonight against the Yankees, who thrashed the Indians 14-1 on Tuesday. In the fourth inning, Carrasco was ejected after he nailed Youkilis with his first pitch after giving up a home run to Robinson Cano. Carrasco, who just finished serving a five-game suspension for throwing at Kansas City’s Billy Butler in 2011, said he slipped on the pitch to Youkilis.

Indians make roster moves involving three catchers

The Indians have placed catcher Lou Marson on the 15-day disabled list with a neck strain sustained in a home-plate collision today.

Marson was bowled over Saturday night at Tampa Bay by Desmond Jennings. Marson did not suffer a concussion, and manager Terry Francona said the backup was making progress. However, the team placed Marson on the DL for the first time in his career before the game tonight against the New York Yankees.

Former Indians 2B Carlos Baerga likes the direction of this year's team

   ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.: Lou Marson had to leave tonight's game after the fourth inning because of a cervical neck strain following a collision at the plate in the third.

   With Tampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings on third and nobody out, Matt Joyce hit a routine bouncer to Lonnie Chisenhall at third. Jennings was running on the play, and Chisenhall threw him out at the plate.

Kazmir to miss two or three starts; Bauer to replace him

TORONTO: After Scott Kazmir underwent an MRI scan at the Cleveland Clinic today, it was revealed that he is suffering from a strained right rib cage.

Kazmir was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 2, which means he will be eligible to be activated April 17. In the meantime, he will miss two or three starts.

Kazmir added to roster because of minor injury

TORONTO: Most teams remove injured players from the roster and put them on the disabled list. The Indians played it a little differently today.

Scott Kazmir, the Tribe's No. 5 starter, scheduled to pitch Saturday agsainst the Rays, was placed on the roster five days early because he felt  twinge in the rib cage area playing catch on Monday.
