GOODYEAR: The Indians got off to a fast start, taking a 4-0 lead after three innings, but the Reds took advantage of  Frank Herrmann and the game eventually ended in a 6-6 tie in the exhibition opener for both teams at Goodyear Ballpark.

""I saw some good things today, especially early from our starting lineup,'' manager Manny Acta said. ""We did some good situational hitting, driving guys in from third.''

Casey Kotchman singled and doubled, driving in a run, and Michael Brantley doubled and single, scoring once. Jose Lopez got the club's only other extra-base hit, a double.

David Huff started an pitched two scoreless innings, allowing three hits (including a bloop single), striking out one and walking none.

Herrmann struggled through the fourth inning, giving up four runs on five hits.

""It's early in camp,'' Acta said. ""What got him in trouble were the left-handed batters. There was also that bloop hit and a ground ball that barely got by (Jason)Kipnis.''
