It's official - Santana promoted to Cleveland

By sstorm Published: June 11, 2010

The Indians just confirmed what we had on the Tribe Matters blog a few hours ago - C Carlos Santana has been promoted to Cleveland.

To make room on the Tribe's 25-man roster, catcher Lou Marson was sent to Triple-A Columbus.

Santana is the Indians' No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America. He is batting .316 with 14 doubles, 13 home runs, 51 RBI and owns more walks (45) than strikeouts (39) in 57 games with the Clippers.

Santana, acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Casey Blake trade, was the Eastern League MVP last season.

In 45 games, Marson was batting .191.
