GOODYEAR, Ariz.: Ubaldo Jimenez delivered 5 1/3 innings and gave up only two runs but was still vulnerable as the Indians defeated the Brewers 4-2 today.

When he was struck in the foot by a smash in the sixth inning, manager Terry Francona quickly removed him.

""He got into the sixth, which was good,'' Francona said. ""When that ball hit him in the foot, we were going to take him out anyway.''

Jimenea hqs compiled a 4.82 ERA  and put 31 runners on base in 18 1/3 innings.

""He found a way to limit the damage today,'' Francona said. ""He's been limiiting damage all spring.''

Drew Stubbs and Lou Marson eah had two hits, Marson driving in a run. Cord Phelps tripled and had one RBI.
