CLEVELAND: Jason Kipnis was scratched from this afternoon's lineup with a sore left elbow and is listed as day to day.
""He had a problem with the other arm (elbow) in spring training,'' manager Terry Francona said. ""I don't know how he did it. I think the first time he might have slept on it wrong. Maybe this will be a one-day thing.''
After missing two games because of a sore thumb, Carlos Santana was back behind the plate.
With Santana's return, the Tribe has three catchers but not for long.
""We have two more games and a day off,'' Francona said. ""It makes sense for us to get through tomorrow before we reevaluate and see where we're at.''
Francona also wants to make certain that Santana's thumb is not an issue.
