Masterson undergoes surgery
Justin Masterson underwent surgery to repair his left (non-throwing) shoulder today by Dr. Craig Morgan in Wilimington, Del.
There was no indication that anything was wrong with Masterson during the season, when he posted a 12-10 record with a 3.21 earned-run average in 33 stars and one relief outing. However, today's procedure was performed to repair a torn labrum.
According to a statement by the Tribe, Masterson is ""expected to be without restrictions’’ when the season opens April 5. The club did not address whether he would be up to speed when spring training begins.
