MV's Wendle named tribe Player of the Week
Mahoning Valley INF Joey Wendle was been named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week for the period July 1-July 8.
Wendle, 22, hit .400 (12-for-30) with four doubles, a triple and eight RBI throughout the week, while posting a 1.071 OPS (.471 on-base %, .600 slugging %).
He also recorded four multi-hit games throughout the week, including a 3-for-6 effort with a double and four RBI July 1 at Williamspor, as Wendle raised his batting average over 30 points.
On the season, he's batting .356 with 10 runs scored, five doubles, two triples and 10 RBI while posting a .943 OPS (.435 on-base %, .508 slugging %) in 16 games.
Wendle was the Indians sixth-round selection (203rd overall) in lst month's draft out of West Chester University (PA).
