Pomeranz, Kipnis among Baseball America's Top 50 mid-season prospect list

Two Indians minor leaguers were among Baseball America’s Mid-Season Top 50 Prospects. The magazine named LHP Drew Pomeranz the 14th best prospect. Second baseman Jason Kipnis came in at 31.

Pomeranz, the Indians No. 1 pick (fifth overall) in 2010 has been impressive in his professional debut. He is 3-2 with a 1.87 ERA and owns 95 strikeouts in 77 innings with high Class-A Kinston and is in line to be promoted to Double-A Akron following next week’s All-Star break.

Kipnis, the Tribe’s second-round pick (63rd overall) in 2009 is the next infielder in line to earn a try out in with the Indians in Cleveland. The former outfielder-turned-second baseman is batting .297 with 14 doubles, nine triples, 11 home runs, 51 RBI and 61 runs scored in 83 games with the Clippers.
