Report: Indians set to sign Johnny Damon
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported over night that baseball sources have told him that the Indians will sign outfielder Johnny Damon. Here is his report.
Damon, 38, proved with the Tampa Bay Rays last season that he is still an effective hitter, batting .261 with a .743 OPS, 16 homers and 73 RBI.
Rosenthal said the deal will have an outclause once Grady Sizemore returns from the disabled list, and that can't happen until June 3.
Damon, a left-handed hitter, is expected to play in left field.
