Rotation in for shakeup by next weekend
CLEVELAND: If Mitch Talbot has no ill effects from his three-inning rehab start tonight at Mahoning Valley, manager Manny Acta looks for him to be activated from the disabled list, probably for a weekend start against the Mariners at Progressive Field.
The return of Talbot, on the DL since July 30 with mid-back strain, will force an alteration in the rotation. Who will be optioned to Columbus? David Huff and Jeanmar Gomez are the obvious candidates.
Huff has more experience as a big-league starter, but Gomez has pitched well in his three major-league outings. It might depend on how they perform this week.
Huff started this afternoon against the Twins, and his normal turn would come again on Friday against Seattle. Gomez won't pitch again until Thursday against the Orioles.
