Santana doing well six months after surgery, on target for spring training
Indians C Carlos Santana received his six-month post operative evaluation from Dr. Rick Parker, who flew out to Goodyear, Ariz., from Cleveland to personally examine the Tribe backstop Monday.
He cleared the young switch-hitter to begin full batting practice activities from both sides of the plate in addition to catching bullpens. Santana was also given the go-ahead to begin position-specific agility drills and full baserunning exercises next week.
Thus, he remains on target to begin playing in games during the first week of the exhibition season which begins on February 27.
On Aug. 6th, Parker repaired Santan's damaged lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his left knee after he was injured in a home plate collision four days earlier in Boston. Santana has spent the entire off season in Goodyear rehabbing at the Goodyear Player Development Complex.
