Santana: I need stronger neck
ST. LOUIS: Carlos Santana is using a new catcher’s mask. He exchanged the lightweight titanium mask for a more traditional steel model, after being hit by a foul ball that gave him a concussion.
The new mask is heavier, but Santana said he’s comfortable wearing it.
“”I just have to make my next stronger,’’ he said, smiling.
Told of Santana’s remark, manager Manny Acta said, “”The assessment of (head trainer) Lonnie Soloff was that his neck is strong enough.’’
