Second trade of day
The Indians announced that they traded for right-handed pitcher Jose Veras from the New York Yankees for cash.
The team announced that Veras will join the Indians’ 25-man roster over the coming days with a corresponding roster move being announced at that time.
Veras, 28, went 3-1 with a 5.96 ERA in 25 appearances out of the bullpen for the Yankees before being designated for assignment June 16.
In 2008, Veras was 5-3 with a 3.59 ERA in 60 appearances with the Yankees. His career record is 8-4 with three saves and a 4.43 ERA (103 2/3 innings, 89 hits, 55 walks and 94 strikeouts) in 106 games.
