| It only makes sense that the Aeros would open the season against their budding rival Bowie for a rematch of last season's first-round playoff series. Although the Baysox rode a late-season surge to claim the regular-season Southern Division Eastern League pennant, the Aeros rebounded by taking three-of-four games in the division series to win the post season title and advance to the EL Championship game. Bowie didn't take too kindly to Akron having Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner for a few games on loan via a rehab stint, leaving town with a bitter taste in their mouths. But the Aeros' karma quickly evened out when they ran into the post-season buzz saw that was Trenton (New York Yankees), falling to the Thunder in the EL Championship Series for the second consecutive season. | ||||

| Santana, a switch-hitting catcher, is the Indians top-rated prospect in the entire Organization. He joined the Tribe last year as part of the Casey Blake trade. Santana profiles as a hitter who will hit for average and a high on base percentage. | ||||||
| The 6-foot-4, 225 pound right hander possesses a fastball that peaks around 97 miles an hour. Baseball America says his slider has the most potential out of his other pitches (change and curve). He is rated as their No.4 prospect. |

| Patton is a soft-tossing left-hander who was acquired from the Houston Astros in the Miguel Tejada trade. He is coming off surgery for a small labrum tear. He is the No.8 rated prospect. |
