ANAHEIM, CALIF.: Right-hander Jess Todd was claimed by the Yankees on outright waivers today, after the Indians designated him for assignment April 30.

After failing to make the big-league roster out of spring training, Todd was sent to Columbus, where he made eight appearances out of the bullpen, giving up 11 earned runs, 18 hits and six walks in nine innings.

Todd, 25, was the player to be named in the deal that sent infielder Mark DeRosa to the Cardinals for Chris Perez in June of 2009.
