ANAHEIM, Calif.: The Indians placed starting pticher Josh Tomlin on the 15-day disabled list today with inflamation in his right elbow.

Tests continue to be ongoing at the Cleveland Clinic, and no further details of the injury were available.

Tomlin admitted that he expeienced intermittent pain in his elbow for at least a month if not longer, but manager Manny Acta said team officials were not informed of the injury until a series agsaint the Orioles between July 20 and 24.

Because of performance problems, Tomlin was removed from the rotation after his last start July 27 and was put in the bullpen, where he pitched three times before he wes shut down with the injury  last Sunday.
