Tribe inks relievers Smith and Lewis to one-year deals

The Indians recently signed RHP Joe Smith to a one-year Major League contract for the 2011 season.

Smith went 2-2 with a 3.83 ERA in 53 relief appearances for the Indians in 40 innings last year with a .208 avgerage against last year. Right-handed hitters batted just .160 against him and 44 of his 53 appearances were scoreless.

Smith owns a career Major League record of 11-7 with a 3.57ERA in 226 relief appearances.

A day later, the Tribe also signed RHP Jensen Lewis to a one-year Major League contract for the 2011 season. Last season Lewis went 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 37 relief appearances for the Indians over five different stints.

He owns a Major League record of 7-11 with a 3.68 ERA and 14 saves in 161 career relief appearances.
