Tribe nabs prep RHP Dillon Howard in second round of draft
With their second pick (67th overall) in the 2011 MLB amateur draft the Indians continued on the high school route, selecting right-handed pitcher Dillon Howard.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder from Searcy High School in Arkansas is considered a "Big, strong and projectable" pitcher according to MLB.com.
MLB.com's scouting report on Howard is also encouraging:
"Howard can get the ball up into the mid-90's with plenty of movement. While he's inconsistent at times with his slurvy curveball, it has a good chance to be a very good breaking pitch in the future. He's got a good changeup as well - at least a major league average pitch down the road. With a lively fastball and a chance to have two very good secondary pitches, Howard has a chance to a front line pitcher in the future."
