CLEVELAND: When the Indians snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on Sunday and Tuesday, manager Manny Acta began to fear something new during what became an 11-game losing sgreak.
""We were playing not to lose,'' Acta said today after the Tribe beat the Twins 6-2 to end the streak. ""That's a phrase you guys like to use, like "Here we go again,' then you start playing not to lose instead of playing to win. The probelm is that it's only human nagture to do that (during a bad streak). It's inevitable.''
Travis Hafner missed his third game in a row today with a sore back. Until now, the malady has been treated by head trainer Lonnie Soloff and a chiropractor. But today Hafner underwent an MRI scan, the results of which might be available Thursday.
