Tribe rehabbers Perez and Sizemore "ramping up"

Before Thursday's game, Indians manager Manny Acta gave updates on two players who've mised a bulk of the season in left-hander Rafael Perez (strained lat) and center fielder Grady Sizemore (knee).

Perez, who was backed off a minor league rehab last week after experiencing soreness, threw again from 90 feet Wednesday.

“He felt good, so we’re gonna ramp him up again,” Acta said. “It’s not going to be a lengthy (build up) since we just shut him down for a few days because he was a little bit sore.”

Sizemore, who turned 30 Thursday, could return to running when the Indians return home Monday to kick off a six-game home stand. The injury-plagued outfielder continues to rehab a knee injury and is not traveling with the team.

“When we get back, (head trainer) Lonnie (Soloff) said he’s going to start ramping it up on the ground,” Acta said.

However, Acta said there hasn’t been any talk of shutting Sizemore down, despite there being just two months of the season left.

“I don’t think that’s the plan with him or our medical staff,” he said. “We’re going to try (to get him back) up until the end.”
