Tribe signs fifth-round pick
The Indians signed fifth-round pick RHP WILL ROBERTS from the University of Virginia
A NCBWA Second-Team All-American and semi-finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year, Roberts just completed his Junior season, going 11-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) for the ACC Champion Cavaliers.
On March 29 versus George Washington he tossed the first perfect game in Virginia history (eighth in NCAA Division I history since 1957) as he retired 27 consecutive batters while striking out 10 and throwing just 98 pitches.
The Indians also signed RHP WILL KRANSNE, a non-drafted free agent from Rollins College.
The Tribe has now signed six of their first 10 picks (#3, #4, #5, #6, #9, #10) ) and 17 of their 50 overall picks from the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
