Tribe trainer: Grady is where we hoped he would be

GOODYEAR, Ariz.: While Indians fans might be prone to hand-wringing and frustration at the plight of Grady Sizemore, the club's heaed trainer, Lonnie Soloff, is pleased with the outfielder's progress after undergoing microfracture surgery to his knee last summer.

Asked whether Sizemore is behind or keeping up with the rehab schedule, Soloff said, ""He's where we hoped he would be.''

This week Sizemore begins agility drills (forward, backward and lateral movements), designed to test his surgically repaired knee. After that, he will run the bases.

Soloff is hopeful that Sizemore can begin playing in games in mid-March, which probably would put him on schedule to return to the lineup some time after the opening of the season.

In other medical news, Soloff expects Shin-Soo Choo (sore elbow) to return to right field on Friday.
