Tribe trims 40-man roster in off season
This week, the Indians began their customary off-season work of trimming their 40-man roster, partly in preparation for the Rule 5 Draft in December.
On Monday, the Indians outrighted C Luke Carlin to Triple-A Columbus, allowing the veteran to declare free agency.
Wednesday, the Tribe brass trimmed four additional players by outrighting 1B Wes Hodges, OF Chad Huffman and INF Drew Sutton to the Columbus roster while SS Carlos Rivero was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Indians 40-man roster now stands at 34 players with 36 under control counting C Carlos Santana and OF Grady Sizemore, who are currently on the 60-day disabled list.
