Wednesday's around the minors

A look at how the Indians Minor League affiliates fared Wednesday:

Triple-A Columbus (67-45) - Host Columbus scored two late runs in the eighth inning to slip past Louisville 9-8...RHP Yohan Pino was pounded for eight runs on nine hits - including three home runs -in just 5 1/3 innings, but did not figure into the decision...C Richard Martinez, fresh up from high Class-A Kinston, led the way offensively for the Clippers, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI.

Double-A Akron (56-53) - The visiting Aeros lost 5-1 to Altoona, as the Curve pounded Akron pitching for 13 hits while the Aeros managed just two hits all game...Newcomer and RHP Corey Klubber (0-1, 6.75 ERA) took the loss in his Eastern League debut, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and five walks in just four innings...The Aeros two hits were by 2B Jason Kipnis, who tripled and homered to drive in Akron's lone run.

High Class-A Kinston (17-20 in second half) - Host Kinston lost 5-1 to Myrtle Beach, despite a solid outing by LHP T.J. House, who allowed no more than three harmless hits over seven strong innings...1B Nate Recknagel and C Chun Chen each went 2-for-4 to lead the K-Tribe offense, but is was CF Bo Greenwell who drove in Kinston's lone run.

Low Class-A Lake County (18-20 in second half) - Host Lake County topped Dayton 8-2...RHP Brett Brach (3-6, 2.91 ERA) limited the Pelicans to just one run while scattering seven hits over seven innings to earn the win...2B Argenis Martinez went 2-for-4 with a run scored, double and three RBI to lead the offensive attack.

Short-season Mahoning Valley (17-29) - Host Mahoning Valley defeated Tri-City 7-2... RHP Jordan Cooper (2-3, 4.01 ERA) earned the win after holding Tri-City scoreless through five innings, while scattering six hits...1B Jonathan Burnette went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two home runs and two doubles to lead the way on offense.
