Will Farrell replace Wedge?

One name that is quickly being thrown around t replace the fired Eric Wedge is Boston Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell, although his availability is a currently a point of contention.

Fox sports senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal writes that Farrell's contract states he cannot take an outside managerial position until after 2010.

ESPN senior baseball writer Buster Olney has been on television this afternoon stating the Red Sox would let him out of his contract to accept a managerial position.

The Boston Globe notes that the contract clause may be there as a way for the Red Sox to create some type of compensation through a deal.
