Cleveland Indians

Will umpiring be a factor in today's game?

By Sheldon Published: May 29, 2010

NEW YORK: Umpire C.B. Bucknor moved behind the plate for today's game with the Yankees.

Theoretically, he can do more damage there than at first base, where Friday night he missed two calls, one of which might have broken Fausto Carmona's concentration and led to a two-run homer by Nick Swisher.

Asked about the umpiring Friday night, Manager Manny Acta said, ""He is who he is. You have to live with it. You can;'t fight city hall.''

Among the Indians' newcomers, Mitch Talbot has provided the biggest boost to the team. Talbot's six wins is the most by any major-league rookie and is tied for second among all American League pitchers. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Talbot is the first Cleveland rookie to win six starts in the club's first 50 games since 1955, when Herb Score accomplished the feat.

Shelley Duncan was in the lineup at DH today instead of Travis Hafner, who is getting a rest.

Duncan has the Tribe's only two pinch hits of the season, which isn't the only reason Acta likes him. ""What I like about Shelley is that he lets it go. He's not going to get cheated, and if he's fooled, so be it.''
