Men's basketball

The Zips' season starts Monday against Arkansas-Little Rock. Here are stories from the Buchtelite's season preview to get you in the mood. Any one of these stories, in my humble opinion, could run in the Akron Beacon Journal.

As editor in chief, I am truly proud of the magazine's design and photography as well. I'll post the PDFs below for you to take a look...

I'll break down Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday or Monday afternoon.

If you were unaware, coach J.D. Brookhart would not let the media speak with freshmen.

David Harvey's performance Thursday night changed that. He seems like a humble guy.

Terry Pluto wrote a column with a lot of interesting points...

  • Indianapolis Colts GM Bill Polian attended Thursday's game. Some believe Andy Alleman is "certain to be drafted," Pluto said. Jermaine Reid, Kiki Gonzalez and Luke Getsy also have a shot.

  • The Zips are on their way to fulfilling the NCAA's attendance requirement. I hate to say this, because I want the Zips to remain bowl eligible as bad as anyone. However, there is no way 14,512 people attended the Buffalo game! Seriously, I put a ceiling of 5,000 on last night's attendance. And 5,000 was very generous.

Off topic: Did anyone else wonder why Turner Gill would go for a two-point conversion at the end of the game? I'm not complaining. Because the Bulls failed, my 31-16 prediction came true.
