Here are players to whom Akron has offered a scholarship for 2009...
Corey Brown, wide receiver, Monroeville Pa. Offers: Akron, Boston College, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia Height: 6-foot-0 Weight: 179 Speed: 4.75 Notes: Scout.com gives Brown three stars. With Brown's subpar speed and size, it's a marvel he has so many big-time offers. Akron, Pitt and Rutgers were the first teams to offer. Brown says they're all even at this point.
Chris Fields, wide receiver, Painesville Offers: Akron and Illinois Height: 6-0 Weight: 181 Speed: Not listed Notes: Rivals.com gives Fields four stars and says he's the No. 88 prospect in the nation at any position. Scout.com gives Fields just one star. Although he does not have a scholarship offer from Ohio State, Field has "high" interest in OSU.
Patrick White, wide receiver, Pickerington, Ohio Offers: Akron and Cincinnati. Height: 6-0 Weight: 175 Speed: 4.5 Notes: White also has interest in Illinois, Maryland, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia. Rivals.com does not have a profile for White.
Michael Campanaro, athlete, Clarksville, Md. Offers: Akron and Northwestern Height: 5-10 Weight: 169 Speed: 4.51 Notes: Scout.com gives Campanaro four stars and has an extensive profile on him.
Darrell Mason, athlete/running back, Youngstown (Ursuline HS) Offers: Akron and Illinois Height: 6-0 Weight: 210 Speed: 4.5 Notes: Mason is Rivals.com's No. 48 prospect in the nation. Both recruiting sites give him four stars.
Nate Klatt, center, Canal Fulton (Northwest High School) Offers: Akron and Bowling Green Height: 6-4 Weight: 280 Speed: 5.4 Notes: Klatt also has interest in Penn State and Ohio State, among other schools.
Adam Bellamy, defensive end, Aurora Offers: Akron and Cincinnati Height: 6-4 Weight: 270 Speed: 4.8 Notes: Rivals.com does not rank Bellamy, who has interest in Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Bowling Green, Kent State and Miami.
Dorian Bell, linebacker, Monroeville, Pa. Offers: Akron, Alabama, Boston College, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and West Virginia Height: 6-1 Weight: 205 Speed: 4.5 Notes: Rivals.com gives Bell FIVE STARS and names him the No. 12 athlete in the country.
