Akron's men took sixth and women placed 10th in the Reese and Jacoby trophy standings.
Kent State took first and second, respectively. Western Michigan placed fourth and first, respectively.
Akron, however, won the most MAC titles of any school with five, edging Kent State and Western Michigan which have four each.
Tenth place sounds pretty bad for the women, but consider that it's a three-spot improvement from last year. One would think the men placed higher, but sixth is still the second-highest spot in school history.
Before you freak out about this, consider that football is really what drives college athletics -- both in revenue and fan support. If I were making a non-politically correct MAC Trophy, football would be weighted as high as five sports; men's basketball would could for three; women's basketball and baseball would be worth two.
That would give us a better indication of how schools did with fans and finances.
