Track
Here's something different. I'll give my top five Zips stars of this weekend's Akron Open...
- Cadeau Kelley, long jump -- Kelley jumped 24-2.25 to break his own school record and win the event.
- Brandi Schoeppner, 5,000 meter -- Schoeppner set a personal best, broke a Field House record and won the event with a time of 16:53.48.
- Tomasz Smialek, high jump -- Smialek qualified for the NCAA tournament with a jump of 7-01.75. (Think about it. It just like he jumped over Shaquille O'Neal's head.)
- Jennie Castle, 800 meter -- Castle won the event with a time of 2:09.91.
- John Russell, pole vault -- Russell took second, but still managed to qualify for the NCAA tournament again with a vault of 17-05.50
