Akron's men take track titles
Track
Akron's men won their third MAC Outdoor Championship in four years last weekend.
Zips took first place in five events, and they were runners-up in four others. UA's Dennis Mitchell was named Coach of the Year for the third time in four years.
Bjorn Johansson won the decathlon in the late hours of Friday, and also earned the Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.
Akron's women, meanwhile, had a rough competition, tying for sixth place.
Tennis
In their first NCAA Tournament appearance, the Zips did not provide much competition to the No. 10-ranked Michigan Wolverines.
Akron was shut out, with the Zips winning five games or more in only two sets.
Still, this season was a big step toward the Zips establishing a winning program.
